Maserati was established in Bologna on 1 December 1914 and today has its headquarters in Modena. In 1937 the remaining Maserati brothers sold their shares to the Adolfo Orsi family, who moved the company to Modena in 1940.
The marque built race cars and won the Indianapolis 500 in 1939 and 1940, the only Italian manufacturer to do so. The 1957 3500 GT was its first series-produced grand tourer, and the company has belonged to Stellantis since 2021.
