The Scania T-series was the bonneted, conventional-cab member of the truck range that Scania introduced in 2004. It was launched together with the P-series on 20 August 2004, but it lasted only a little over a year: in October 2005 Scania decided to discontinue it.

History of the Scania T-series
Part of the 2004 range
Scania launched its new truck range on 31 March 2004 with the high forward control cab R-series. On 20 August 2004 the low forward control cab P-series and the bonneted T-series followed, completing the range and replacing the rest of the 4-series models; the new trucks made their public debut at the IAA commercial vehicle show in Hanover in late September. The range is modular, with engines from a 9-litre inline five to a 16-litre V8, the V8 only in the higher models.
Why it was dropped
In October 2005 Scania decided to discontinue the bonneted T-series because it had lost market share over the years. Sales had halved in Europe over the previous decade and fallen by 90 percent in Latin America, and in 2004 fewer than 1,000 bonneted Scania trucks were sold worldwide, which meant there was no longer a market for the model. The decision ended a line of conventional-cab Scania trucks that had included the bonneted T-series of the 2-series back in 1980.
Design and features
- Conventional cab: the engine sits ahead of the driver under a bonnet.
- Modular range: the same engines and components as the P- and R-series.
- Short life: launched in August 2004 and discontinued in October 2005.
Scania T-series versions
- T-series (2004–2005): the bonneted member of the new range.
- Latin American sales: the market where sales fell fastest, by 90 percent.
The cab-over models of the same range are the Scania P-series, Scania G-series and Scania R-series. The bonneted trucks of the 1980s are described in Scania 2-series, and more vehicles are in the Scania collection.
