History of the Peugeot 807
A bigger second generation
The second-generation Eurovans were launched in 2002, with the Peugeot 807 arriving in June and the Citroën C8 the following month. The floorpan, wheelbase and engine layout were not changed, but all exterior dimensions, including front and rear tracks, increased. Almost 30 cm of extra length greatly improved interior volume, and the new cars were given a much more rounded, contemporary look with a modern dashboard whose gauges sat in the centre. Differences between the brands became more marked, with full front and rear sections, including head and tail lights, and different interior colour schemes.
Interior
The middle and third row seats now had fore and aft sliders and adjustable backs, which made the cabin more flexible. As on the first generation, a three-seat bench was available for the third row, fitting into the standard runners, with folding backs and a tip-forward arrangement to increase boot space. The Fiat and Lancia versions were slightly wider than the PSA cars, and the Lancia Phedra was longer than the other Eurovans.
Later years
The Citroën C8 and Peugeot 807 received two light facelifts, in February 2008 and in 2012. Production of the PSA cars ended in June 2014, long after the Fiat and Lancia versions, which had stopped in November 2010. The 807 was the Peugeot version of a family of large MPVs that had begun in 1994 with the 806 and was never directly replaced, as the company moved to the 5008 and to SUVs.
