The Case 1370 is one of the largest Case farm tractors of the company’s final decades as an independent American maker, and the video below shows one cultivating. The sources used for this page describe the company but not the model itself.

History of the Case 1370
Case in its final decades
By the years in which the 1370 was built, Case was a subsidiary of Tenneco and its construction equipment line, not its farm tractors, was the head of the business: the company had moved that way in the 1950s. In 1972 it bought David Brown Tractors of Yorkshire, which brought a European factory and a second range of farm tractors into the Case organisation, and in 1985 the farm side became the Case IH brand.

Large tractors in the range
The 1370 belongs to the top of the Case tractor range in those years. The sources do not list its engine, transmission or production run, and the page does not invent them; what they do record is the direction of the company, which was towards bigger four-wheel-drive machines and, after 1986, the Steiger and Quadtrac tractors.
The tractor in the film
The video below shows a 1370 in work, cultivating. It is a good illustration of the kind of heavy field work these tractors were bought for, but it is not a specification sheet, and the page does not treat it as one.
Design and features
- Top of the range: the 1370 number puts it among Case’s biggest farm tractors of the period.
- Construction-first company: it was built by a firm whose main business was earthmoving machinery.
- Tenneco years: Case was owned by Tenneco from 1967, wholly so from 1970.
- Working survivor: the example in the film is still used for field work.
Case 1370 versions
- Case 1370: the tractor described here.
- Smaller Case tractors of the 1970s: the rest of the range sold alongside it.
- Case four-wheel-drive tractors: the Traction King line, and from 1986 the Steiger tractors.
The bigger four-wheel-drive Case tractors are on the pages for the Case 2670 and the Case IH Magnum. More machines are in the Case section.
