History of the Case IH Magnum
The first joint Case IH tractor
Case IH was formed in 1985, when Tenneco bought International Harvester’s agricultural division and merged it into Case. The Magnum 7100 range of 1987 was the first tractor launched under the new name and the first built out of both traditions. Case IH then bought Steiger in 1986 and set about covering the whole top end of the market.

Generations
The Magnum Pro range followed in 1997 and the Magnum MX, built at Racine, in 1999. New Magnum models came in 2006, and in 2010 more powerful versions reached outputs of up to 389 hp. The Rowtrac version, with tracks instead of rear wheels, was introduced in 2015, and the ninth generation has been in production since 2014.
The current tractors
The ninth-generation Magnum uses an 8.7-litre diesel with an SCR catalyst for exhaust after-treatment and a Powerboost function that adds up to 26 kW for short periods. It is sold with either a continuously variable transmission or a conventional powershift, in a wheeled version and in the Rowtrac version with tracks, and the oil change interval is about 600 working hours.
