The Toyota Granvia is a nameplate the company has used since 1995 for several different minivans. It began as a semi-bonneted van based on the H100 HiAce, returned from 2019 on the H300 HiAce, and since 2022 has also been used by FAW Toyota in China on a version of the XL40 Sienna.

History of the Toyota Granvia
The XH10 Granvia (1995)
The first Granvia was the XH10 series, a semi-bonneted van sold in Japan between 1995 and 2002. Unlike the cab-over HiAce of the time, it placed its engine ahead of the driver, which gave a longer nose, a lower floor and more comfortable crash behaviour. It was a large, luxurious MPV for the Japanese market and the predecessor of the current Alphard school of Toyota luxury vans.

The H300 Granvia (2019)
From 2019 Toyota has marketed the H300-series HiAce as the Granvia in Taiwan, Australasia, Argentina, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. In those markets the Granvia is positioned as a premium people carrier rather than a commercial van, with the same body and mechanical package as the HiAce but a more luxurious interior and specification.
The XL40 Granvia (2022)
Since 2022 the Granvia name has also been used in China, where FAW Toyota sells the XL40-series Toyota Sienna as the Granvia. The Chinese car combines the Sienna’s hybrid-oriented minivan platform with local production and the Granvia badge. The nameplate therefore has no single continuous model history: it is a badge that Toyota applies to whatever large minivan fits a market, from a HiAce derivative to a Sienna.
Design and features
- Three models: one name, three different minivans over nearly thirty years.
- Semi-bonneted layout: the original XH10 put the engine ahead of the driver.
- HiAce base: the 2019 Granvia is the H300 HiAce under another name.
- China only: the XL40 is a Sienna built by FAW Toyota since 2022.
Toyota Granvia versions
- XH10 (1995–2002): HiAce H100-based semi-bonneted van.
- H300 Granvia (2019): premium version of the current HiAce.
- XL40 Granvia (2022): FAW Toyota version of the Sienna.
The Granvia’s first generation was based on the HiAce, its 2022 version on the Sienna, and its luxury role is now taken by the Alphard. More cars are in the Toyota collection.
