History of the Leyland Lion
Leyland Lion PSR1, 1960–1967
The first Leyland Lion was the PSR1, a rear-engined single-deck bus chassis built between 1960 and 1967. It followed the pattern of the Atlantean and other rear-engined Leylands, with the engine at the back of the chassis and the bodywork built by outside coachbuilders.
Leyland-DAB Lion, 1986–1988
The second Leyland Lion was the Leyland-DAB Lion, a mid-engined double-decker bus chassis manufactured between 1986 and 1988. It was a product of the Leyland DAF period, when Leyland and the Danish firm DAB worked together, and unlike the PSR1 it had its engine amidships rather than at the rear.
