A new face for Peugeot

The SR1 was shown at Geneva in March 2010. It was presented together with Peugeot’s new brand identity and its restyled lion, and designers around the world studied the car to understand where the brand was going in design terms.

The hybrid system

The SR1 uses HYbrid4 technology, the system Peugeot launched in the 3008 in 2011. At the front a 1.6-litre THP petrol engine of 160 kW, or 215 hp, drives the front wheels, while a rear electric motor of 70 kW, or 95 hp, drives the rear axle. In electric-only mode the car is a zero-emission vehicle. When both systems work together the SR1 develops a potential 230 kW, or 313 PS, and gains four-wheel drive.

Economy

In the combined cycle the concept consumed 4.9 l/100 km and emitted 119 g/km of CO2. The transmission is an electronically controlled six-speed.

Design and features

  • HYbrid4: the diesel and petrol hybrid layout later used in production Peugeots.
  • Two power sources: 1.6 THP at the front and an electric motor at the rear.
  • 313 PS combined: four-wheel drive when both systems run together.
  • ZEV mode: electric-only running with no emissions.
  • New identity: the concept that introduced Peugeot’s restyled lion.

Peugeot SR1 versions

  • SR1 (2010): the single concept car.

The SR1’s HYbrid4 system reached production in the Peugeot 3008 and the 508, and its ideas were developed further in the HX1. More in the Peugeot collection.
