The Nissan Latio is a nameplate used between 2004 and 2016 for two small car models. The first was the Nissan Latio or Tiida Latio, a subcompact sold in South-East Asia and Japan from 2004 to 2012. The second was a rebadged Nissan Almera sold in Japan as a captive import from 2012 to 2016.

History of the Nissan Latio

Tiida Latio (2004–2012)

The Latio began as the saloon version of the Nissan Tiida, sold in Japan and South-East Asia. It shared its mechanical package with the Tiida hatchback and sat in the subcompact class.

Captive import (2012–2016)

After the Tiida Latio ended, Nissan reused the name in Japan for a rebadged Almera imported from outside the country. That car was a captive import rather than a Japanese-built model, so the two Latios had little in common beyond the badge.

Design and features

  • Two cars, one name: a Tiida-based saloon and later an Almera.
  • Japanese and Asian markets: the first car was sold in Japan and South-East Asia.
  • Captive import: the second came from abroad in 2012.

Nissan Latio versions

  • Nissan Latio / Tiida Latio (2004–2012): the first model.
  • Nissan Latio (2012–2016): the rebadged Almera.

The first Latio was the saloon version of the Tiida, and the second was a rebadged Almera. More cars are in the Nissan collection.
