New Holland 7630: a Brazilian-built farm tractor

The New Holland 7630 is a farm tractor from the Brazilian side of the company’s business: the film below comes from a Brazilian seller and shows the machine in use. New Holland builds tractors and combines in Brazil for South America, and models of this kind are sold there rather than in Europe. The sources used for this page describe the company and its factories, not the model.

History of the New Holland 7630

New Holland in Brazil

Brazil is one of the group’s production centres. New Holland tractors are built at Curitiba and Rio Verde, combines at Sorocaba and at Curitiba, and sprayers at Piracicaba, which makes the country a full-line manufacturing base rather than an assembly point. Machines such as the 7630 are part of that local offer: they are specified and numbered for the South American market, where the working conditions, the crops and the dealers’ networks differ from those in Europe.

The tractor in the film

The film below presents a 7630 for sale — a working tractor with a cab, shown in Portuguese. It is a useful record of a machine that is common in Brazil and almost unknown in Europe. The sources used here do not give its engine, power or years of production, and this page does not supply numbers it cannot support.

The group behind the name

New Holland was founded in 1895 in Pennsylvania, became Sperry New Holland in 1947, was bought by Ford in 1986 and by Fiat in 1991, and merged with Case in 1999 to form CNH, now CNH Industrial. Its Latin American business grew with that group: the Mexican joint venture with Quimmco, begun in 1990, passed to New Holland in 1993 and became CNH de México in 1999. Brazil, Mexico and the other Latin American markets are served from factories inside the region.

Design and features

  • South American model: a tractor of the range built and sold in Brazil.
  • Brazilian production: tractors from Curitiba and Rio Verde, combines from Sorocaba.
  • Working cab tractor: the film shows a machine presented for sale, not a show piece.
  • Local numbering: a model number that belongs to the Brazilian range rather than the European one.

New Holland 7630 versions

  • New Holland 7630: the tractor described here.
  • Other Brazilian 7000-series tractors: the models sold alongside it.
  • European equivalents: the T6 and T7 classes sold in Europe at the same time.

Smaller utility tractors of the group are on the New Holland 5030 page, and the top of the range on the New Holland T series page. More machines are in the New Holland section.
