The New Holland TG series was the company’s line of big conventional tractors in the 2000s, with the TG285 at the top of it. The film below shows a TG 285 running with an open exhaust. The sources used for this page describe the company and its range, not the series itself.

History of the New Holland TG series
Big tractors after the mergers
The TG series belongs to the years when New Holland had become a single brand with a full range, from compact tractors to the biggest field machines. In 1996 the New Holland name was launched worldwide at a convention in Orlando, Florida, after Ford and Fiat had combined their tractor businesses; in 1999 New Holland merged with Case, and the resulting company, now CNH Industrial, found itself with several ranges of high-horsepower tractors under different badges. The TG models were New Holland’s entry in that class, led by the TG285.
The engineering behind the badge
One consequence of the mergers was that machines sold under different names became very similar underneath. New Holland, Case and Steyr tractors are largely identical mechanically, with the cab and other visible elements developed separately by each brand, and at least one New Holland series has been built in Steyr’s factory. For buyers, the choice between the brands came down to dealer support and trim as much as to engineering.
The tractor in the film
The film below shows a TG 285 at work, its exhaust open, which is how these tractors are usually filmed by enthusiasts. The sources used here do not give the series’ engine, power ratings or production years, and this page does not supply figures it cannot support. What they do show is where the TG stood: at the top of the New Holland range, in the class that contractors and large arable farms buy.
