The MAZ-5516 is a six-wheeled dump truck of the Minsk Automobile Plant, built since 1994 in the third-generation MAZ range. It comes with a short or a long cab, a chassis version for special bodies, and a grain version able to carry 20 tonnes.

History of the MAZ-5516
A tipper of the third generation
The MAZ-5516 has been built by the Minsk Automobile Plant since 1994 as a 6×4 dump truck. It is offered with two cab versions, a short one and a long one; the version with a cab without a sleeping place carries the index MAZ-551603.
The MAZ-551605
The most widespread modification of the model is the MAZ-551605, fitted with the YaMZ-238DE2 engine of 330 hp. A chassis version of the MAZ-5516 is made as well, for other bodies and equipment.
The grain version
The MAZ-551608-236 is a version for carrying grain. Unlike the base model it can discharge to either side, and its body is enlarged to 22 m³ with a payload raised to 20 tonnes; a three-axle trailer of the same volume can be used with it. The MAZ-551608 has the YaMZ-7511 engine of 400 hp.
Euro-3 versions
From 2008 the lorries have been fitted with the YaMZ-6582.10, a modernised YaMZ-238DE2 under a new designation, of 330 hp and to Euro-3 standard; that machine is called the MAZ-5516A5. The MAZ-5516A8 has the Euro-3 YaMZ-6581.10 of 400 hp and is otherwise the same as the MAZ-551608.
