The MAZ-6303 is essentially a three-axle version of the MAZ-5336 with a number of small updates. It received the YaMZ-238D diesel of 330 hp, instead of the 240 hp YaMZ-238M2 of the MAZ-5336, an engine already used in earlier MAZ tractors such as the MAZ-6422 and MAZ-5432. The lorry meets the TIR requirements and works as a long-haul lorry train with the MAZ-83781 trailer.

Dimensions and weights

The lorry is 10,230 mm long, 2,500 mm wide and 4,000 mm high, with a wheelbase of 5,990 mm to the rear bogie. Its body holds 43.5 m³ over a floor area of 18.7 m². The kerb weight is 11.8 tonnes and the payload 12.7 tonnes, for a gross weight of 24.5 tonnes; the trailer adds 20 tonnes and the complete train reaches 44.5 tonnes. With 11.00R20 tyres and a 350 or 500 litre tank, the MAZ-6303 reaches 100 km/h and uses 27.5 litres of fuel per 100 km at 60 km/h.

One base, several lorries

The MAZ-6303 became the base for several other machines: the MAZ-6301 with a 6×2 layout, the all-wheel-drive MAZ-6317 with a 6×6 layout and the MAZ-5516 dump truck with a 6×4 layout.

Engines through the standards

From 1995 MAZ models were fitted with YaMZ engines to Euro-1, from 1997 with Euro-2 engines and from 2008 with Euro-3 engines. From 2014 the Cummins engines of MAZ lorries met Euro-4.

Design and features

  • Six wheels: the 6×4 layout of the three-axle version.
  • 330 hp: the YaMZ-238D, an engine shared with the MAZ-6422 and MAZ-5432.
  • Fitted for TIR work: international transit loads with the MAZ-83781 trailer.
  • Big body: 43.5 m³ and a floor of 18.7 m².

MAZ-6303 versions

  • MAZ-6303: the standard 6×4 lorry.
  • MAZ-6301: 6×2 version.
  • MAZ-6317: all-wheel-drive 6×6 version.
  • MAZ-5516: 6×4 dump truck on the same base.

The MAZ-6303 is the three-axle partner of the MAZ-5336 and gave its chassis to the MAZ-5516 tipper; more are in the MAZ collection.
