The MAN TGA was the first heavy truck of the TG range, built from 1999 to 2007. It replaced the F2000, L2000 and M2000, introduced five cab sizes and was sold in Britain as the ERF ECT.

History of the MAN TGA
The TG range was released in 1999 and replaced MAN’s existing F2000, L2000 and M2000 trucks. It was developed in Germany, and the first heavy-duty cab was the TGA. Buyers could choose between the L, LX, XL, XLX and XXL cabs, and the truck came with either a manual gearbox or MAN’s TipMatic automated manual transmission.

Range and successors
In 2005 MAN added the TGL and TGM as its first light and medium-duty trucks, so the TG family grew around the TGA. The TGA itself was discontinued in 2007 and replaced by the new TGX and TGS models. In the United Kingdom the same truck was also sold as the ERF ECT until the ERF marque was discontinued in 2007.
Design and features
- Five cab sizes: from the low L cab to the XXL long-distance cab.
- TipMatic: an automated manual transmission was offered alongside the manual gearbox.
- New generation: the TGA replaced three older MAN ranges at once.
- British twin: the ERF ECT was the same truck under another badge until 2007.
MAN TGA versions
- TGA tractor units: the main long-haul version with the high cabs.
- TGA rigids: chassis and tipper versions on the same cab.
- ERF ECT: British-market version sold until the ERF marque ended in 2007.
- Cab choices: L, LX, XL, XLX and XXL.
The TGA replaced the MAN F series and was itself replaced by the MAN TGX. More MAN trucks are in the MAN collection.
