History of the MAN TGX
The TGX appeared in 2007 together with the TGS, replacing the TGA. From 2007 a 16.2-litre D28 turbocharged V8 was available as an option. In 2012 all new TG models were revealed with a chrome Lion grille and updated styling; they were now Euro 6 compliant, and the D2868 V8 was dropped in favour of a 15.2-litre D3876 straight-six because of low demand.

Facelifts
A facelift in 2016 brought a refreshed lower bumper and a black-backed Lion logo on the grille; the TGS and TGX gained 20 hp and 100 Nm across all engines and became Euro 6c compliant. A minor facelift in 2019 added a refreshed interior and instrument cluster, another 10 hp and 100 Nm, and Euro 6d engines.
Third generation and alternative fuels
The third generation was unveiled in Bilbao on 10 February 2020. It kept the basic cab and frame structure but had all-new styling, a fully digital instrument cluster for the first time in a MAN truck, and a cab sitting 10 cm higher on the frame. In October 2023 MAN began selling the electric eTGX with a range of up to 800 km and 750 kW charging; in 2024 it showed the hTGX, a hydrogen combustion version of the TGX with a 520 hp H45 engine, 56 kg of hydrogen tanks and about 600 km of range.
