History of the Ligier IXO

Launch

Ligier presented the IXO at the Paris Motor Show in 2010 as the replacement for the X-Too. In the line of its predecessor the car adopted classic lines with generous dimensions, and it was offered in a multitude of variants with Lombardini DCI and Lombardini Progress diesel engines. Four finishes were proposed at first: Urban, Linea, Meta and Titane.

The growing range

In October 2010 the Ixo Play personalisation programme was presented at the Paris Motor Show. In April 2011 three sporting finishes appeared, Meta Street, Titane Street Ultima and Titane Street Lemon. In August 2011 the Urban S joined at the bottom of the range, the Treck with a rugged look was added, and a four-seat version homologated as a heavy quadricycle with a Lombardini petrol twin completed the line-up. From September 2011 air conditioning was offered as an option, only with the DCi engine. In December 2011 the Urban S, Meta and Titane disappeared, replaced by the Club.

Facelift

In January 2012 the IXO was restyled with a more aggressive front bumper, and four finishes were offered: Urban, Club, Treck and Elegance. A new sporting finish, Team 26, arrived in May 2012. At the Paris Motor Show in October 2012 the Lombardini DCI LDW 442 gave way to the LDW 492, called “Revolution”, with a crawl function. The Elegance finish was dropped in February 2013, and in January 2014 the limited Treck Online series offered a tablet integrated in the dashboard with a reversing camera.

The end

In March 2014 the IXO became the IXO JS Line, adopting elements of the JS50. The presentation of the JS50 L at the Paris Motor Show in October 2014 marked the end of the IXO, and its production stopped.

Design and features

  • Sans-permis design: a light quadricycle that can be driven without a standard licence, with heavier four-seat versions on a quadricycle licence.
  • Lombardini diesels: the DCI and Progress engines, with the “Revolution” LDW 492 from 2012.
  • Many finishes: Urban, Linea, Meta, Titane, Club, Treck and the sporting Team 26.
  • Personalisation: the Ixo Play programme from 2010.
  • Connected edition: the 2014 Treck Online with an integrated tablet and reversing camera.

Ligier IXO versions

  • IXO (2010–2012): the original car in Urban, Linea, Meta and Titane finishes.
  • Sporting finishes: Meta Street, Titane Street Ultima and Titane Street Lemon from 2011.
  • Urban S and Treck: the cheaper and the rugged versions added in 2011.
  • Four-seat quadricycle: a long version with a Lombardini petrol twin.
  • IXO restyled (2012–2014): new front bumper, Urban, Club, Treck and Elegance finishes.
  • IXO JS Line (2014): the final version with JS50 components.

The IXO replaced the X-Too and was itself replaced by the JS50; earlier Ligier microcars include the Optima and the JS4. Ligier’s racing cars are covered by the JS11. More cars are in the Ligier collection.
