History of the Iveco Stralis

The Stralis was launched in 2002 to replace the EuroStar and the EuroTech and filled the range above the medium-weight EuroCargo, from 19 to 44 tonnes. Its gearbox was the EuroTronic with full or semi-automatic modes, and the lorry was the first heavy truck to have an automated gearbox fitted as standard.

In 2007 the Stralis received minor changes to the cabin and the front of the vehicle. An updated version, the Stralis Hi-Range, made its debut in 2012 with Euro 6 engines, improved cabin ergonomics and a facelifted design. It was offered with three cabs: the Hi-Way for long-haul sleeper work, the Hi-Road sleeper and the Hi-Street day cab.

All the engines are straight sixes with four valves per cylinder and modern pump-nozzle injection, in three capacities: the Cursor 8 of 7.8 litres with 310 to 360 hp, the Cursor 10 of 10.3 litres with 420 to 450 hp and the Cursor 13 of 12.9 litres with 500 to 560 hp. Every engine carries the Iveco Turbobrake, a high-performance decompression exhaust brake. Iveco Magirus built the fire-fighting version of the Stralis, and the lorry stayed in production until 2021.
