History of the Fiat Oggi

Design and packaging

The Oggi was a two-door saloon developed from the Fiat 147 for the Brazilian market. Its most remarked feature was a very big boot for a car only 3,966 mm long. According to the magazine Quatro Rodas of May 1983, the boot held 440 litres, the second largest volume in Brazil. The largest was the Monza’s 448 litres, but the Monza was a mid-size car with an overall length of 4,366 mm.

Engines and versions

The Oggi was mainly sold with one engine, the 1.3-litre Fiat Fiasa unit of 1,297 cc, equipped to run on either alcohol or petrol. The petrol engine produced 60 PS and the alcohol engine, the more common choice, 61 PS. In 1984 the gasohol versions were reduced to 55 PS for lower fuel consumption.

A CS version was added in January 1984. In 1984 and 1985 there was also a special version named CSS with a 1.4-litre engine of 1,415 cc; it was used in a Brazilian racing championship and was limited to about 300 units sold.

Sales

Overall, 20,419 Oggis were sold in Brazil over its three-year career, after which the Uno-based Prêmio took its place.
