The Ursus 912 was the four-cylinder 80 hp tractor that joined the Ursus range in the mid-1980s. It replaced earlier four-cylinder models with a new cab, a stronger rear linkage and more hydraulic outlets, and in turn gave way to the Ursus 932 and 934.

History of the Ursus 912

The 912 was the next step in the line of four-cylinder Ursus tractors of about 80 hp. Compared with the models it replaced it had a new cab with tilting rear windows, a rear linkage rated at 4,125 kg, a new automatic transport and field hitch and an increased number of hydraulic quick couplers, from two to four and up to seven in all.

Visually the tractor was distinguished by a cut-down upper bonnet at the front; later models had a bonnet that sloped down along its whole length from rear to front. The four-wheel-drive version was called the Ursus 914. The 912 belonged to the family of 912, 914, 1012, 1222, 1224 and 1614 tractors, in which the last digit of the designation shows how many wheels are driven, and the main difference between the members was the engine, with varying cylinder counts and turbocharging.

The 912 was eventually replaced by its developed versions, the Ursus 932 and Ursus 934. Its place in the range was that of a medium-heavy tractor: more powerful than the small C-330 and C-360 models, but lighter and cheaper to run than the six-cylinder 1614 and 1634 that topped the range.

Design and features

  • New cab: tilting rear windows, a step up from earlier four-cylinder tractors.
  • Stronger linkage: lift capacity of 4,125 kg.
  • More hydraulics: four quick couplers standard, up to seven.
  • Automatic hitch: a new transport and field coupling system.
  • Four-wheel-drive sibling: the Ursus 914, with its own driven front axle.

Ursus 912 versions

  • Ursus 912: rear-wheel-drive 80 hp tractor.
  • Ursus 914: four-wheel-drive version.
  • Later bonnet: the whole bonnet sloped down from rear to front.
  • Ursus 932 and 934: developed replacements for the 912 in the same range.

The 912 sat between the four-cylinder Ursus C-360 and the heavy Ursus 1614. More tractors are in the Ursus collection.
