Ural Patrol: the chromed version of the two-wheel-drive Ural

The Ural Patrol is the more polished member of the sidecar family. It uses the units of the Gear Up, including the on-demand drive to the sidecar wheel, but sets itself apart with a large amount of chrome; the Patrol 2WD was part of the factory’s 2013 range.

History of the Ural Patrol

A chromed Gear Up

The Patrol is built on the components of the Gear Up, the sidecar outfit with on-demand drive to the sidecar wheel. Where the Gear Up has a military look, the Patrol is distinguished by a large number of chrome elements, which gives the outfit the appearance of a classic touring machine rather than a field vehicle.

In the range

The Patrol 2WD appeared in the list of models the factory was building in 2013, alongside the Tourist, the Gear Up and the Retro. Like them it uses the 750 cc air-cooled boxer twin with a four-speed gearbox including reverse and a shaft final drive.

Design and features

  • Two-wheel drive: the sidecar wheel can be engaged when the going gets loose.
  • Chrome: the visual signature that separates the Patrol from the Gear Up.
  • 750 cc boxer twin: the modern engine with a four-speed gearbox and reverse.
  • Touring outfit: three wheels, a sidecar and a shaft drive.

Ural Patrol versions

  • Patrol 2WD: the two-wheel-drive version listed in the 2013 range.

The Patrol shares its mechanicals with the 750 cc Urals and sits close to the Tourist; the Retro is the other styling-led model. More machines are in the Ural collection.
