History of the Tomos Revival

Tomos had built mopeds in Epe in the Netherlands since 1966, and the Dutch development team was responsible for introducing models such as the Colibri, Targa and Revival. The Epe factory produced for the Dutch market until 2009, when production was moved to the home factory in Slovenia. The Netherlands remained the strongest market for Tomos.

The A35 years

The Revival was one of the models powered by the A35 engine, which Tomos built from 1991 to 2006 as the successor of the A3. The A35 was an air-cooled single-cylinder two-stroke of 49 cc with a bore and stroke of 38 × 43 mm; it produced 3 kW (4 PS) and 3.4 Nm at 3,500 rpm. The Revival stayed in the A35 range until the end of the engine’s production in 2006.

The last range

In the 2000s Tomos introduced new models such as the MC Off-Road Line, Revival, Streetmate and Arrow, and in 2006 the A35 was replaced by the A55. Tomos mopeds had been sold in the United States since 1976, and exports continued into the 2010s. The company went bankrupt in January 2019.

Design and features

  • Dutch development: the Revival came from the same development tradition as the Colibri and Targa.
  • A35 engine: a 49 cc air-cooled two-stroke with 3 kW (4 PS).
  • Long model life: the Revival remained in the range until the A35 was discontinued in 2006.
  • Part of the 2000s range: sold alongside the Streetmate, Arrow and MC Off-Road Line.
  • Export model: Tomos mopeds were exported to Europe and North America.

Tomos Revival versions

  • Revival (A35): the standard model with the 49 cc A35 engine.
  • Revival in the 2000s range: the model as sold alongside the Streetmate and Arrow.

The Sprint and Tomos LX used the same A35 engine. More Tomos mopeds are in the Tomos collection.
