The Tomos Sprint was one of the mopeds that carried Tomos through the 1990s, built around the new A35 engine introduced in 1991. It outlived the engine itself: the A35 was replaced by the A55 in 2006, yet a redesigned Sprint was still part of the range in the 2010s.

In the 1990s Tomos introduced the Sprint together with the Targa and Targa LX. The Targa and Targa LX were eventually renamed TOMOS ST and TOMOS LX. The new A35 engine, built from 1991 to 2006 as the successor of the A3, powered the whole family.

The A35 was an air-cooled single-cylinder two-stroke of 49 cc with a bore and stroke of 38 × 43 mm and a compression ratio of 10:1. It produced 3 kW (4 PS) and 3.4 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. Besides the Sprint, Tomos used it in the Bullet, Bullet TT, Colibri, Golden Bullet, Sprint TT, Targa, Targa LX, Tomos LX, TT Classic and Revival, and offered moped versions named A35, A35S, A35L and A35SL.

In 2006 the A35 was replaced by the A55 engine, which had lighter rotating parts and better power output. The Sprint was listed among Tomos’s step-through models, together with the TOMOS ST. In the 2010s Tomos returned to the US market with a redesigned Sprint featuring classic details and with the new Racing TT; the company went bankrupt in 2019.

In the 2010s Tomos returned to the US market with a redesigned Sprint featuring classic details and with the new Racing TT; the company went bankrupt in 2019.
