History of the Piaggio X8
The X8 was released in 2004 and sold with 125, 150, 250 and 400 cc engines; the 150 was the Street version. The 250 came with a fuel-injected Quasar engine meeting the Euro 3 emission standards. The scooter has a windscreen and a remote central-locking style key that opens the front and rear storage compartments without having to put the key in the ignition.
The storage
The X8 has 56 litres of load capacity with dual access to the storage area. The space under the seat holds items up to 80 cm long, in practice two full-face helmets, and it also contains a foldaway seat cover and a courtesy light. The front shield provides further space for small items or documents within easy reach and is equipped with a 12 V plug to recharge a mobile phone.
Riding
The scooter has an automatic twist-and-go transmission, so there is no manual clutch and no gears. Its large body and generous storage made it a compact alternative to a car for everyday journeys, and it has since been replaced in the range by the Piaggio Xevo.
