The Peterbilt 367 was introduced in 2007 as the successor to the 378 in the vocational range. It measures 123 inches from bumper to back of cab, 8 inches more than its sister 365, and like that truck it can be ordered with a set-back or a set-forward front axle.

History of the Peterbilt 367

The 367 and the shorter 365 replaced the 378 and 357 respectively when Peterbilt renewed its vocational line in 2006–2007. The 367 kept the longer 123-inch bumper-to-back-of-cab dimension of the 378, which gives more space behind the cab for a body, a crane or a lowboy hitch, and it was aimed at the heavier end of construction and specialised haulage.

The choice between the 365 and 367 is largely a question of what goes behind the cab. A tipper or a mixer may suit the shorter truck, while a lowboy tractor or a truck with a large service body needs the extra length of the 367. Both models offer the two front-axle positions, and both use the same cab and family engineering.

The model remains in the range as the larger of the two vocational conventionals. It follows the pattern Peterbilt has used since the 1980s: a steel cab shared across many models, a simple bonnet for engine access, and a chassis prepared for whatever body the customer orders.

Design and features

  • Long vocational chassis: 123 inches from bumper to back of cab, giving room for large bodies.
  • Two axle positions: set-back or set-forward front axles to suit the application.
  • Class 8 chassis: built for construction, lowboy and specialised haulage work.
  • Shared family: the same cab and engineering as the shorter 365.

Peterbilt 367 versions

  • 367 (from 2007): the 123-inch model.
  • 365: the shorter 115-inch sister.
  • Set-back and set-forward versions: two front-axle positions.

The shorter sister is the Peterbilt 365, and the model it replaced is the 378. The heavy highway tractors of the period are covered with the 389; more in the Peterbilt collection.
