The Pegaso Tecno was one of the ranges ENASA developed in the 1980s, together with the T-1 and ahead of the Troner of 1987. It belongs to the years in which Pegaso adopted tilting cabs and modernised the design of its lorries while trying to keep pace with European competitors.

History of the Pegaso Tecno
Pegaso’s lorry range had been built on its own engines and cabs since the 1940s, from the Mofletes of 1949 to the heavy models of the 1970s. During the 1970s and 1980s the company developed numerous families for road haulage, construction and specialised transport, and the arrival of tilting cabs made maintenance easier and gradually modernised the look of its vehicles.

In the 1980s three range names stood out: T-1, Tecno and Troner. The Tecno sat between the older numbered lorries and the Troner, which appeared in 1987 as the last heavy lorry designed entirely by ENASA, with a cab developed jointly with DAF and Pegaso’s own 12-litre straight-six engine.
The effort came too late to stop ENASA losing market share in a consolidating European industry. Spain’s entry into the European Community increased competition, the search for a partner ended with Iveco’s purchase of a majority stake in 1990, and the Pegaso name disappeared from new models during the 1990s. Tecnos remained in service for years afterwards, and some have been restored.
Design and features
- 1980s range: one of the three families, with the T-1 and Troner, that defined Pegaso’s final decade.
- Tilting cab generation: part of the move to cabs that tilted forward for maintenance.
- Between the eras: it bridged the numbered lorries of the 1960s and 1970s and the Troner of 1987.
- Long service: surviving Tecnos are still restored and driven today.
Pegaso Tecno versions
