The Pegaso Ekus was the light truck in ENASA’s range at the time of the Iveco takeover. It was not a Pegaso design at all but a rebadging of the Volkswagen LT and the MAN-VW G ranges, sold alongside the medium Mider, the heavy Troner, the off-road Trakker and the Podium buses and coaches.

History of the Pegaso Ekus
By the late 1980s ENASA could no longer fund new engines, cabs and technologies on its own. It had developed the T-1 and Tecno ranges, and in 1987 came the Troner, the last heavy lorry designed by the company before its integration into Iveco. The Solo 500 concept truck of 1989 showed where its engineers wanted to go, but the money was not there.

In 1990 Iveco bought ENASA. At that moment the Pegaso offering consisted of the Ekus light truck, the Mider for medium weights, the Troner for heavy work, the Trakker for off-road duty, and the Podium range of buses and coaches.
The Ekus was not developed in Spain: it was a rebadging of the Volkswagen LT and the MAN-VW G ranges, which gave Pegaso dealers a modern light vehicle without the cost of designing one. Most Pegaso ranges disappeared from the market soon after the takeover; the last Troner was built in 1994 and the last Pegaso engine in 1995, though Iveco kept the brand for commemorative models.

- End of an era: part of the last catalogue offered before Iveco absorbed the marque.
