The Pegaso 3045 was the four-wheel-drive tactical truck that replaced the 3020 in Spanish Army service in 1970. Its successors, the 170 hp 3046 and the 200 hp 3055, became the most common military Pegasos, and the 3046 was also sold to Egypt in a contract of up to 10,000 vehicles.

History of the Pegaso 3045
Pegaso’s first production tactical truck was the 4×4 3020 of 1963. In 1970 it was replaced by the 3045, joined by the six-wheeled 3050, and the line was then developed into the 170 hp 3046 and the 200 hp 3055, which became dominant in the Spanish Army.

The 3046 was the subject of a substantial contract with the Egyptian Army, for up to 10,000 vehicles. The type was also very common in Spanish forest fire brigades, where its crews nicknamed it Egipcio, the Egyptian, after that export deal.
The 3045 family sat alongside other all-wheel-drive Pegasos of the late 1970s: the 3545 BLR, an airborne 170 hp 4×4 armoured car, the amphibious 3550 VAP, and the 6×6 3560 BMR with its 306 hp engine and the VEC derivative. Together they equipped the Spanish Army in large numbers.
Pegaso’s military work was part of a wider business that ran from 1946 to 1990 and produced more than 350,000 vehicles. After the 1990 sale of ENASA to Iveco the marque disappeared from new models, though many 3045s and 3046s remain in service or in preservation.
