History of the Nissan Livina
L10 (2006)
The first-generation Livina came in two lengths: the regular two-row model with a shorter rear overhang, called the Livina or Livina XR and in Taiwan the Livina Urban or Sport, and the longer three-row model called Livina Geniss in China and Grand Livina elsewhere. The two-row car was treated as a roomy hatchback or European-style mini MPV, while the longer one was a wagon-styled MPV. The three-row model debuted in China in November 2006 and the two-row car there in April 2007; Taiwan received the two-row version in October 2007. Both were also built in South Africa from January 2008, with forty percent locally sourced parts and the rest mainly from Indonesia.

Engines and the X-Gear
Power came from 1.5, 1.6 and 1.8-litre fours shared with the Tiida, Latio and Versa. The smaller engines had a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic; the 1.8 could be ordered with a six-speed manual or four-speed automatic. In April 2008 a crossover-styled version appeared as the Livina C-Gear in China and the Livina X-Gear elsewhere, with unpainted body cladding, side garnish, rugged bumpers and roof rails, powered by the 1.6 HR16DE engine or, in Indonesia, the 1.5 HR15DE.
Grand Livina
The Grand Livina was launched in Indonesia on 5 April 2007 in 1.5 SV, 1.5 XV, 1.8 XV and 1.8 Ultimate grades, with the sporty Highway Star later added. It was facelifted in Indonesia in February 2011, and in Malaysia it was offered with the HR16DE and MR18DE engines, gaining a Tuned by Impul edition in 2009 and an Autech variant in 2012. A second generation arrived in February 2019 as a three-row model based on the Mitsubishi Xpander, sold only in Indonesia and the Philippines as of 2022.
