History of the Mercedes-Benz Tourismo
The Tourismo was introduced in 1994 as an integral coach, meaning a bus with a load-bearing body rather than a separate chassis. It was first built at Başakşehir in Turkey, where Mercedes-Benz has long assembled coaches and buses for export markets.

A revised version was launched in 2006, with a new design and updated equipment. By 2014 the model had reached 21,000 sales. It took the place of the O 404 as the company’s volume coach and was joined by the Travego at the top of the range.
