Disclosure
CarRating.org is run by BrightWave Solutions Ltd., the same company that publishes Details of Cars, and its footer shows the same London address as ours. We have tried to look at it the way we would at any other site, and we say plainly where it falls short.
CarRating.org is an English-language car magazine with more than 300 articles on new models, collector cars, buying advice and car care. It is edited as a stream of news and features rather than as a database of ratings, which matters for how to use it. This review is based on its home page, About page, public sitemap and a few sample articles, all read on 29 October 2026.

What you will find
The home page opens with a rotating featured story and a grid of recent articles, with the list of topics down the side. The topics are broad: from engines, brakes, cooling and tyres to interiors, paint and body, and from “Classic” Talk and collector cars to EVs and safety. In the weeks before we looked, the site had run pieces on the Ferrari Purosangue, a Mansory-tuned BMW M5, the 1970 Boss Mustang 302, a Bonhams auction of a Hummer H1 once owned by Tupac Shakur, and a look at why Audi and BMW are simplifying their grilles and badges.

Beyond news there is practical material. A buyer’s guide compares electric, petrol and hybrid cars, and a short how-to explains the ICP sensor on a Powerstroke 7.3 diesel, with symptoms, testing and replacement steps. The About page lists three principles: independence, accuracy and clarity.
How the articles are built
The features we read run roughly 1,300 to 1,500 words, open with a highlighted summary, and use headings, photographs and in some cases comparison tables. The Ferrari Purosangue piece, for example, lists the engine and performance figures and sets the car against the Lamborghini Urus Performante, Aston Martin DBX707 and Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT. The practical how-tos are shorter, around 450 words. The site is easy to move around in: a sidebar category list, social-share buttons and a “Load More” list on the home page.
What to keep in mind
- It is a magazine, not a ratings tool. The page title mentions ratings, model comparisons, specs and prices, and the About page talks about rankings. What we found in practice was editorial articles; we saw no ratings table, model database or comparison tool.
- Articles carry no bylines. The site says it is run by a team of automotive experts, analysts and journalists, but the articles we read do not name an author, and sources are rarely cited.
- Read the figures as the magazine’s own. For specs and prices, especially in news pieces, it is sensible to check the manufacturer’s page before buying or selling anything.
Who it suits
CarRating.org is a good fit for readers who want a steady flow of current car stories, collector-car features and plain-language buying and ownership advice in one place. If you want photographs and histories of individual models, that is what the rest of Details of Cars is for: start with our guides, such as Engine layouts explained and Buying a classic, or browse the Exotic Cars collection.
