History
The P2 was introduced for the Circuit of Cremona in 1924, where Antonio Ascari won. It then won the speed trial at 195 km/h. Vittorio Jano had been recruited from Fiat by Enzo Ferrari, and the P2 was his first creation at Alfa Romeo, after the P1 was scrapped following its poor performance at the 1923 Monza Grand Prix.
In 1925 the P2 won the inaugural Automobile World Championship, taking victory in two of the four rounds. Ascari won the European Grand Prix at Spa, and Gastone Brilli-Peri won the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. From 1924 to 1930 the P2 won 14 Grands Prix and major events, including the Targa Florio.
