Abarth & C. was founded in Bologna on 31 March 1949, after Carlo Abarth took over the assets of Cisitalia with funding from Armando Scagliarini. His astrological sign, Scorpio, was chosen as the company logo.
Alongside racing, the firm built accessories and performance parts for Fiat, Lancia, Cisitalia and Simca cars. Carlo Abarth sold the company to Fiat on 31 July 1971, and it is now a performance division of Stellantis.
