History of the Suzuki AX100
The Indian launch
The AX100 has the distinction of being the first 100 cc motorcycle launched in India. The first batches arrived as completely knocked-down kits, which made the bikes more expensive to build there. The model sold well at first but could not repeat its early success, largely because Yamaha took the Indian commuter market with the RX 100 and because of the higher production cost.
Long life in China
Production did not end with the Indian and Japanese ranges. As of 2026 the AX100 was still being manufactured for Suzuki by Jiangmen Dachangjiang in China and sold in a few markets such as Argentina and the Dominican Republic. Copies also appeared from Jincheng and various other brands.
