The Renault Trezor is a two-seat electric concept car with autonomous capabilities, built by Renault and unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. It won the Festival Automobile International’s Most Beautiful Concept Car of the Year award in 2016, and was expected to become a commercial product by 2020.

History of the Renault Trezor
The shape

The car has no visible seams, largely because of its clamshell roof: a single-piece canopy that opens by hinging forward on struts. It has a carbon-fibre chassis and a wooden frame under the bonnet, built with the German bicycle maker Keim, that works as a luggage rack. Renault said it had to carry on the legacy of the DeZir, with extreme beauty and economy while giving up top speed. The drag coefficient of 0.22 makes it one of the most aerodynamically efficient cars in the world, and the exterior lighting signature changes when the car is switched to autonomous mode. The wheels, 21 inches at the front and 22 inches at the rear, have gaps between the spokes in the shape of the Eiffel Tower, and carbon-fibre scoops help brake cooling.
Powertrain and interior
An electric motor gives 260 kW (349 hp) and 380 N·m, enough for 0 to 100 km/h in under four seconds. Two battery packs with independent cooling are served by variable-geometry honeycomb air intakes at the front, and a brake energy recovery system comes from the technology developed for Formula E cars. The interior and the windscreen are coloured red, with an OLED touchscreen under Gorilla Glass on the centre console and the steering wheel; the rectangular steering wheel widens in autonomous mode to give the driver a panoramic view of the dashboard.
Design and features
- Canopy: the roof opens forward as a single piece.
- Aerodynamics: Cd 0.22.
- Wood: the luggage frame under the bonnet was made with the bicycle maker Keim.
