History of the Nissan Rogue
S35 (2008)
The first Rogue made its debut in Detroit on 7 January 2007 and replaced the Nissan X-Trail in Canada as Nissan’s entry-level SUV, and the body-on-frame Xterra in Mexico, while the Xterra continued in the United States and Canada through 2015. It was offered in three trim levels in the United States, S, SV and SL, with front- or all-wheel drive.
2011 update
The 2011 model year brought a new front fascia and grille, new front and rear spoilers, gauges recoloured from orange to black, a redesigned centre dash to take the navigation system, low rolling resistance tyres with the 17-inch alloy wheels and a new under-body cover. United States sales began on 13 August 2010. A Rogue S Krōm Edition added more aggressive styling, a sport-tuned exhaust, 18-inch polished wheels, a unique grille and bumper with fog lamps, and was shown at the 23rd Z Car Convention in Nashville.
One car with the X-Trail
From 2014, for the 2014 model year, the Rogue was merged with the X-Trail sold outside North America. The two are now the same vehicle under different names, which is why a European X-Trail and an American Rogue share their body and platform. Between August 2014 and March 2020 the Rogue was also built under contract at the Renault Samsung Motors plant in Busan, South Korea.
