History of the Neoplan Tourliner
2003: a coach for the MAN line
The Tourliner arrived in 2003 as Neoplan’s touring coach for buyers who wanted the engineering of the MAN range in a Neoplan body. It was first built at Pilsting and is now made at the MAN bus plant in Ankara, on the same line as the MAN R07 to R09 series. Three sizes were offered from the start: the standard 12 m coach with 49 seats, the three-axle Tourliner C at 13.26 m with 55 seats and the Tourliner L at 13.8 m with 59 seats. All three are 2.55 m wide and 3.8 m high.

2016: the next generation
A new Tourliner was presented at the IAA in 2016, by which time production had moved to Turkey. The range changed to two-axle coaches of 12.1 and 13.1 m and three-axle coaches of 13.4 and 13.9 m.
2024 model year
At Busworld Europe 2023 Neoplan presented the changes for the 2024 model year. They include a new electronics platform, digital driver workplaces and assistance systems such as radar-based turning and lane-change aids, a lane-keeping assistant and a lane-return assistant. The coach is powered by the new MAN D26 engine, which meets Euro 6e and is claimed to deliver ten horsepower and around 50 newton-metres more than before while using up to 2.5 per cent less fuel.
