History of the Neoplan Euroliner

Place in the range

The Euroliner arrived in 1998 and took over from two Neoplan series, the Jetliner and the Transliner. It was not a single coach but a family: the same bodywork was sold as an intercity bus for regular service, as a combination bus for mixed duties, and as a touring coach, in lengths from 9.95 m to 15 m and with two or three axles. The first coaches were assembled in Berlin-Spandau, where Neoplan had built the Transliner range together with the Plauen and Ehrenhain plants; at the end of 2001 production moved to Plauen.

Two successors

The range was split when it was replaced. The intercity and combination duties passed to the Trendliner, built from 2004 to 2009 on the basis of the MAN Lion’s Regio, while the cheaper touring coach role was taken by the Tourliner, in production since 2003. That division ended the Euroliner in 2006, after eight years.

Design and features

  • Three duties, one range: intercity, combination and touring versions shared the same model family.
  • Wide length spread: from a 9.95 m combination bus to a 15 m three-axle intercity coach.
  • Separate numbering: a leading 3 in the model number marks a Euroliner, so the N 3316 Ü is the Euroliner version of the Transliner N 316 Ü.
  • Two plants: Berlin-Spandau first, Plauen from the end of 2001.

Neoplan Euroliner versions

  • N 312 Ü: 10.0 m intercity bus.
  • N 313 Ü: 10.6 m intercity bus.
  • N 314 Ü: 11.3 m intercity bus.
  • N 316 Ü: 12.0 m intercity bus.
  • N 316/3 ÜL: 13.7 m, three axles.
  • N 318/3 Ü: 15.0 m, three axles.
  • Combination buses: N 312 K at 9.95 m, N 316 K at 12.0 m and N 316/3 KL at 13.7 m.
  • Touring coaches: N 313 SHD at 10.6 m, N 316 SHD at 12.0 m and N 316/3 SHDL at 13.7 m.

The Euroliner came between the earlier Transliner and the later Tourliner, which took over its cheaper touring role. Its intercity duties went to the Trendliner. More coaches are in the Neoplan collection.
