History of the Mercedes-Benz Integro

The Integro succeeded the O 408, whose production ended in 1998, and was intended as a combination bus for intercity routes as well as for excursions and transfer work. It shared most of its construction with the Setra 300 and 400 intercity buses, both brands belonging to the same group. Shortly before Setra introduced its MultiClass, the Integro received a facelift in the autumn of 2005.

Four versions were offered. The standard Integro is 12 m long with 49 to 55 seats; the Integro M of 2002 is 13 m long with 53 to 59 seats; the Integro L measures 15 m on three axles and carries 57 to 69 seats. The Integro H, built until 2006, was a 12 m high-floor version with 55 seats and a larger luggage bay, its aisle standing 1.04 m above the ground.

Standard equipment included Mercedes-Benz A 680 intercity seats, which allowed a 100 km/h approval and could be fitted with seat belts; the facelift brought the Inter Star Eco seat. Options included roof ventilation or air conditioning and different destination displays, while more comfortable travel seats, a refrigerator and a courier seat could be ordered for occasional work. The body is self-supporting with a skeleton frame of steel sheet and glass-fibre reinforced plastic. In later years a wheelchair lift at the middle door was common. The Integro was withdrawn in 2018 and replaced in the range by the Intouro.
