History of the Kawasaki KSR110

The KSR110 was first launched in Thailand in early 2002 and was Kawasaki’s first and only miniature supermoto-style motorcycle. It was designed after the popular KLX/KX range of dirt bikes and built on an underbone platform, more specifically the Kawasaki Edge 110, with which it shares its engine configuration. It was originally meant for children and young riders learning to ride as an alternative to a scooter, but it offered capabilities closer to a conventional motorcycle.

Exports and update

In 2013 the KSR was exported to other Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam. A face-lift in mid-2013 brought several minor design changes and an electric starter alongside the standard kick start.

KSR Pro

A new variant, the KSR Pro, was launched in Indonesia in 2014. Its only difference from the original is the addition of a conventional manual gearbox with a standard clutch.

Design and features

  • Miniature supermoto style: KLX/KX-inspired looks on a small road-legal machine.
  • Underbone base: the Kawasaki Edge 110 platform and engine keep the bike simple and cheap.
  • Electric starter from 2013: added to the original kick start in the mid-2013 face-lift.
  • KSR Pro: a manual gearbox and clutch for riders who want a conventional motorcycle layout.

Kawasaki KSR110 versions

  • KSR110 (2002 onwards): the original kick-start model, later with an electric starter.
  • KSR Pro (2014): manual gearbox and clutch.

The KSR110 follows the styling of the KX motocross bikes in miniature form. More models are in the Kawasaki collection.
