History of the KamAZ-65111

The 65111 belongs to the second generation of KamAZ trucks and is the successor of the first-generation KamAZ-5320 and KamAZ-55111 tippers. It has been built since 2003, and the indices 65111 and 65115 also denote chassis supplied for special equipment, which is why the two names appear on cranes and on other machinery as well as on dump trucks.

The lorry comes in two forms. The 6×6 version weighs 11,050 kg empty and carries fourteen tonnes, while the 6×4 version weighs 10,500 kg and carries fifteen; both have a gross weight of 25,200 kg. The body holds 8.2 cubic metres and tips to the rear at an angle of 52 degrees, enough for sand, gravel and spoil. The cab sits over the engine, has a high roof and no sleeping place, and the wheels carry 10.00 R20 or 11.00 R20 tyres.

The engine is the KamAZ-740.30-260 or its 280 hp derivative, a turbocharged and intercooled diesel, and the gearbox is a ten-speed manual. In exchange for its payload the truck is slower than the road-going members of the family: the top speed is 80 km/h, the gradient capability is 30 per cent and the turning circle is 11.3 m. That combination of a big body and modest speed is typical of a construction tipper, which spends its time shuttling between a loading shovel and a site rather than on the motorway.

Design and features

  • Two layouts: a 6×6 with fourteen tonnes of payload or a 6×4 with fifteen.
  • Big body: 8.2 m³ tipping 52 degrees to the rear.
  • 260 or 280 hp: the turbocharged and intercooled KamAZ-740.30 in two ratings.
  • Chassis sales: the 65111 index also covers chassis for cranes and other equipment.
  • Second generation: the successor to the KamAZ-5320 and KamAZ-55111 tippers.

KamAZ-65111 versions

  • KamAZ-65111 6×6: fourteen tonnes of payload on 11,050 kg of kerb weight.
  • KamAZ-65111 6×4: fifteen tonnes of payload on 10,500 kg of kerb weight.
  • 280 hp version: the more powerful engine rating.
  • Chassis form: the same index supplied for special equipment.

The 65111 came after the KamAZ-55111 and was built alongside the KamAZ-65115, which is its closest relative in the range. More trucks are in the KamAZ collection.
