History of the Jelcz M121

The M121 appeared when sales of the Jelcz M121M and M121MB were falling. In 2000 the maker decided to offer a version powered by the Polish WS Mielec SWT11/302/1 engine, which developed 162 kW (220 hp) and met the Euro 2 emission standard, and which was also used in the Jelcz 120M/3. The bus used Jelcz 65N front axles and Jelcz MT 1032.A rear axles.

The model never reached real series volume. Only eleven buses were completed: one in 2000, three in 2001, five in 2002, none in 2003 and two in 2004, after which production ended. The M121 therefore stands as a small, little-known member of the low-entry Jelcz family rather than as a mainstream type.

Design and features

  • Polish engine: the WS Mielec SWT11/302/1 turbo diesel of 162 kW (220 hp) to Euro 2.
  • Jelcz axles: the 65N front axle and the MT 1032.A rear axle.
  • Very small production: eleven buses built over five years.

Jelcz M121 versions

  • Jelcz M121: the Mielec-engined version of the low-entry bus.
  • Jelcz M121M and M121MB: the better-known low-entry models of the same family, built in larger numbers.

The M121 shared its engine with the Jelcz 120M/3 and belonged to the same low-entry family as the Jelcz M121M. More buses are in the Jelcz collection.
