History of the JAC Heyue

The Heyue sedan was launched on the Chinese market at prices from 62,800 to 75,800 yuan. It was offered with a 1.5-litre straight-four petrol engine and a 1.8-litre straight-four, and buyers could choose a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission. The car was part of the Heyue family that JAC created for its passenger models, and it was exported as the J5.

In May 2012 JAC added the Heyue Sport Edition. Priced at 87,800 yuan, it was based on the standard sedan but came with different alloy wheels, a spoiler and a body kit; the engine was unchanged. A facelift followed in March 2014 with restyled front and rear fascias and prices from 73,800 to 98,800 yuan.

The Heyue later became the basis of an electric car. The JAC iEVA50 was launched in March 2018 with a claimed NEDC range of 500 kilometres. Its electric motor sat over the front axle and produced 144 hp, and the 60 kWh battery pack was placed under the rear seats. A base trim with a smaller 47 kWh pack and a range of 330 kilometres was also offered. A second facelift in 2019 gave the car restyled front and rear ends.
