History of the JAC Yueyue

The Yueyue was first shown at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show and went on sale in August 2010, with prices from 30,000 to 40,000 yuan. Its 1.0-litre inline-four produced 50 kW and 95 N⋅m and gave the car a top speed of 150 km/h. It was the smallest model in the Heyue family and JAC’s answer to the growing market for cheap city cars in China.

At the 2012 Chengdu Auto Show JAC revealed a facelift with updated front and rear bumpers and a wider choice of engines, including a 1.0-litre of 68 hp and a 1.3-litre of 99 hp. A Yueyue Cross version followed, a mini crossover with larger plastic bumpers, plastic cladding around the wheel arches and extra roof rails.

The Yueyue also became an export model. It made its Brazilian debut at the 2012 São Paulo Auto Show as the JAC J2, with a 1.4-litre naturally aspirated VVT petrol engine of 1,332 cc producing 108 hp at 6,000 rpm and 14.1 kgf·m at 4,500 rpm, mated to a five-speed manual. A flex-fuel engine arrived at the end of 2014, and in 2016 JAC began CKD assembly in Paraguay with a 1.0-litre 999 cc engine of 68 hp and 85.3 N⋅m. The Yueyue was discontinued globally in 2019.
