The Hyundai Clix was a concept car built by Hyundai in 2001 and shown at that year’s Frankfurt motor show. It had characteristics of both a coupé and a pick-up SUV, and its most unusual feature was a completely transparent roof that could be folded away so the car could be configured in a number of ways for different situations.

History of the Hyundai Clix
Hyundai presented the Clix at the Frankfurt motor show in 2001 as a design study rather than a production car. The brief mixed two shapes that rarely meet: a coupé and a pick-up SUV. The car’s answer to that brief was its roof.

The transparent, collapsible roof was the centre of the design. Because it could be folded away, the car could be arranged in a number of different ways, changing its character from a closed coupé to something much more open. The concept never reached production, but it became familiar to a wider public through the Gran Turismo series, where it appears as a playable car in Gran Turismo 4, Gran Turismo for PSP, Gran Turismo 5 and Gran Turismo 6.
