Replacing a legend

The CBF125 was manufactured by Honda’s Indian subsidiary HMSI from 2008 and went on sale in the UK in early December 2008, replacing the CG125 after more than thirty years. In India the bike was known as the Stunner, with a carburettor version and a fuel-injected Stunner PGM-FI; Europe, China and Singapore received only the injected model.

CB125F

The CB125F was announced in November 2014 and fully unveiled on 13 April 2015, replacing the CBF125, which had been Europe’s best-selling motorcycle. Its launch price was lower than that of the CBF125 and it was built in China rather than India. In Pakistan it was launched in 2019 in place of the Honda Deluxe.

The 2021 model

For 2021 Honda introduced an all-new CB125F, a badge-engineered SP125 redesigned around a high-efficiency eSP engine and a lighter, better-handling chassis. The bike lost 11 kg to reach 117 kg. New equipment included a digital dash and an LED headlight, and the single-cylinder air-cooled two-valve eSP engine with PGM-FI gained a slightly offset cylinder, cutting friction and raising economy to about 65 km/L, giving a potential 800 km range.

Design and features

  • Frame-mounted fairing: the CBF125’s distinguishing feature over the CB125F.
  • Fuel injection: standard in Europe from the start of CBF125 sales.
  • Lightweight 2021 chassis: 117 kg after an 11 kg reduction.
  • eSP economy: about 65 km/L and up to 800 km on a tank.

Honda CBF125 versions

  • CBF125 Stunner: carburettor version for India.
  • CBF125 Stunner PGM-FI: injected version for India and export.
  • CB125F (2015): Chinese-built successor with a fork-mounted fairing.
  • CB125F (2021): lighter SP125-based model with eSP engine.

The CBF125 replaced the Honda CG125 and belongs with the small-capacity CBR125R. More Hondas are in the Honda collection.
