Filling the NSR gap

The CBR125R was introduced in 2004 to fill the gap in the 125 cc market left by the discontinued NSR125. It is powered by a 124.7 cc liquid-cooled four-stroke two-valve SOHC single with a claimed output of 10 kW (13.4 hp).

2004–2006

The first models resembled the CBR600F4i and used a carburettor. The Repsol colour scheme was introduced in 2005 and lasted for one further year as the CBR125RS5/6.

2007–2010

In 2007 the bike received major changes: front fairings styled after the CBR600RR, black swingarm and fork, and engine changes including PGM-FI fuel injection, an idle air control valve and an HECS3 oxygen sensor to meet Euro 3.

2011–2016

The 2011 model was the first major overhaul since launch, bringing the styling in line with the 2011 CBR250R, which in turn borrowed from the VFR1200F sports tourer.

Design and features

  • Smallest CBR engine: 124.7 cc single with two valves.
  • Full fairing: styling updated twice to match larger CBR models.
  • Fuel injection from 2007: PGM-FI with idle air control and an oxygen sensor.
  • Lightweight first bike: aimed at new riders in Europe.

Honda CBR125R versions

  • CBR125R (2004–2006): carburettor model styled after the CBR600F4i.
  • CBR125RS5/6 (2005–2006): Repsol colour scheme.
  • CBR125R (2007–2010): injected Euro 3 model.
  • CBR125R (2011–2016): restyled after the CBR250R.
  • CBR150R: the related 150 cc model for Far Eastern markets.

The CBR125R replaced the NSR in Honda’s small sport range and sits below the CBR250R and CBR400. More Hondas are in the Honda collection.
