History of the Honda Integra
A car engine cut in half
The Integra is powered by a single overhead camshaft 670 cc parallel twin that is essentially the 1.3-litre Honda Fit engine chopped in half, keeping the same bore and stroke. It is tilted 62 degrees forward for a low centre of gravity and near-uniform weight distribution, and the undersquare engine has programmed fuel injection, separate timing profiles for each cylinder and tuning for strong low- and mid-range torque. A 270-degree crankshaft gives it the pleasant throbbing feel of a V-twin.
Two power outputs
The Integra was offered with two outputs: 38.1 kW (51.1 hp) at 6,250 rpm and 62 Nm at 4,750 rpm, or a lower 35 kW (47 hp) and 60 Nm to meet 2013 A2 European licensing rules.
Scooter practicality
The bike has motorcycle-style 17-inch high-pressure die-cast aluminium wheels and only 15 litres of under-seat storage, because the fuel tank also sits under the saddle. Power goes through a six-speed dual clutch transmission with one manual and two automatic modes, and combined ABS provides braking. German magazine Scooter und Sport measured 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 166.9 km/h. The Integra was updated for 2014 with capacity increased to 745 cc.
Design and features
- Fit-derived engine: half a car engine in a two-wheeler.
- Dual clutch transmission: manual and automatic modes.
- Under-seat tank: the reason storage is limited to 15 litres.
- Combined ABS: standard braking equipment.
Honda Integra versions
- Integra 670 (2012): the original model.
- A2 version: restricted to 35 kW for European licence rules.
- Integra 745 (2014): larger engine for the 2014 model year.
The Integra shares its platform with the Honda NC series and its car-derived engine idea with the Fit. More Hondas are in the Honda collection.
