The E-Z-GO TXT is the most famous series in the history of the Augusta manufacturer. It is a golf car — a small open-sided vehicle with a roof, built for courses, hotel grounds and private estates — and like most E-Z-GO products it leaves the factory with an electric motor, though petrol versions have always been part of the offer.

Based on one source: E-Z-GO is described in a section of the German Wikipedia article, which gives no model years or production figures for the TXT. The English Wikipedia has no E-Z-GO article, only a redirect to Textron.
History of the E-Z-GO TXT
The TXT is named in the German Wikipedia article on E-Z-GO as the best-known series the company has built. It belongs to the golf car half of the range, the product that E-Z-GO made exclusively until 1973 and in which it still claims market leadership. A golf car of this kind is a light, open vehicle with a roof, normally seating two or four people, and used where a car would be too big or too fast: on golf courses, around hotels and on large private grounds.
Electric first
Most E-Z-GO vehicles are delivered with an electric motor, and the TXT is no exception; petrol engines are offered as an alternative. The same division of power runs through the working versions of the range. What the TXT does not have, in the sources available here, is a published model history: neither the German article nor the English Textron page gives production years, numbers built or a list of revisions, so this page stays at the level of the series.
Place in the range
The TXT sits between the company’s beginnings as a pure golf car maker and the newest generation of its golf cars, the RXV. From the same base E-Z-GO developed its working vehicles: the MPT and ST series carry the same choice of electric or petrol power but add high ground clearance and, in part, off-road tyres, so that they can be used in landscape maintenance as well as on hotel grounds.
Design and features
- The best-known E-Z-GO: the series the company itself points to when it describes its range.
- Electric as standard: a motor rather than an engine is the normal specification.
- Petrol option: combustion-engined versions were offered alongside the electric cars.
- Fleet use: built for courses, resorts and estates, where range and speed matter less than size and quiet running.
E-Z-GO TXT versions
- TXT electric: the standard golf car of the series.
- TXT petrol: the same car with a combustion engine.
- Work derivatives: ST and MPT versions with higher ground clearance and off-road tyres.
- Successor generation: the RXV, described by E-Z-GO as its newest generation of golf cars.
The newer golf car is the E-Z-GO RXV; the working versions of the range are the E-Z-GO ST and the E-Z-GO MPT. More about the marque is on the E-Z-GO brand page and in the E-Z-GO collection.
