History of the Daihatsu Sirion

An export badge

The Sirion nameplate was first used on export versions of the Daihatsu Storia, sold in Japan between 1998 and 2004. For the 1998 to 2004 cars there were two models: the M100 with a 998 cc three-cylinder engine and the M101 with a 1.3-litre four-cylinder. Both were available with manual or automatic transmissions.

The Boon and the Myvi

From 2004 the Sirion name moved to export versions of the Boon, which was built until 2015. Since 2007 the same nameplate has also been used in Indonesia for the Malaysian-built Perodua Myvi. In its first two generations the Myvi was a redesigned version of the first and second-generation Boon, while the third generation is a fully independent model developed in-house by Perodua with technical support from Daihatsu.
