History of the Aston Martin One-77
The One-77 features a full carbon-fibre monocoque chassis, a handcrafted aluminium body and a 7.3 L V12 that Aston Martin claimed to be the most powerful production naturally aspirated engine in the world when the first car was delivered. The car uses height-adjustable pushrod suspension with dynamic stability control, Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres (255/35 ZR20 front, 335/30 ZR20 rear) and carbon ceramic matrix brakes. The carbon-fibre chassis and suspension were engineered and manufactured under contract by Multimatic of Canada.

Production of the One-77 was limited to 77 cars, although several development cars were made for engineering, testing and marketing. One of them, VIN #10711, was sent back to Aston Martin for complete refurbishment and is now owned in the United States under NHTSA Show or Display registration, making the actual total in existence 78. The car’s development formed part of the name. In May 2012 one of the 77 cars was involved in a crash in Hong Kong and was initially written off, but has since been fully rebuilt.
Q-Series
Towards the end of its production Aston Martin made a seven-unit special version called the One-77 “Q-Series”; the “Q” comes from the Q by Aston Martin personalisation programme, and the “series” may refer to the selection of liveries on each car.
Awards
The One-77 won several design awards, including the Concorso d’Eleganza Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes, the Good Design award from The Chicago Athenaeum and the “Best Design” award from Auto Express.
